Join us for an abbreviated viewing of "The American South as We Know It," a documentary that reveals the stories of ordinary men and women who lived through Jim Crow and explores the legacy of historical traumas. Frederick Murphy, a licensed mental health practitioner and founder of the History Before Us project, strives to bring history to life through a unique style of conducting oral history interviews informed by his professional training. Murphy combines his insightful interviews with a modern documentary-style filmmaking to preserve the stories of challenge and triumph in the African-American community in the South. After the viewing, an interactive presentation on historical trauma will follow.
